DiscoBot
Bot & Dolly, 2013
My first experiments at Bot & Dolly involved bolting a disco ball to the end of a Kuka KR150 and programming a moving head stage light to track it. Rapidly spinning a disco ball in free space turned out to be a pretty mesmerizing effect, and the demo evolved (generally by adding more lights) over the course of a few years.
DiscoBot made appearances at Autodesk University 2013, O'Rilley Solid 2014, and the Tipping Point 2014 charity dinner.
Coordinated Motion
A similar effect, but involving two robots programmed to gracefully juggle a beam of light. This project was later reproduced with laser projectors.
